Particle Foam Solutions for Logistics and Packaging

From transport trays to protective packaging, thermal boxes and pallets—particle foams provide lightweight, durable and reusable solutions for a wide variety of logistics and packaging requirements. They reliably protect products, reduce weight and volume, are often reusable and contribute to sustainable logistics and storage. Whether in industrial manufacturing, food transport or pharmaceuticals, these materials combine protection and practicality with environmental responsibility.

EPLA or EPHBH packaging offers a biodegradable alternative to conventional foam materials. It is lightweight, reliably protects sensitive goods and can be formed flexibly. Made from renewable raw materials, it combines mechanical stability with an eco-friendly solution for transport and storage. Ideal for food, medicines or other temperature sensitive products.

Advantages:

  • Good mechanical protection at low weight
  • Can be tailored to specific applications
  • Environmentally friendly production from renewable resources
  • Biodegradable
  • Bio-based alternative to EPS

Applications:

  • Transport of food and meals
  • Transport of medicines and related goods

EPP trays are used wherever components must be transported safely or stored in an organised way within production. The material is lightweight yet sufficiently elastic to absorb shocks and protect sensitive parts. Due to their high dimensional stability and durability, EPP trays are particularly suitable for industrial environments, where repeated use and space saving stackability are crucial.

Advantages:

  • Low weight with very good energy absorption
  • Reusable with high resilience
  • Precise fit for organized storage
  • Space saving and stackable
  • Excellent insulation properties (maintains stable temperatures for long periods)
  • Durable, temperature and weather resistant

Applications:

  • Automotive industry
  • Mechanical and plant engineering
  • Storage
  • Pallets

Thermal boxes made from expanded polypropylene (EPP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) are widely used because they provide excellent thermal insulation at very low weight. This keeps temperatures stable without unnecessary mass. EPS consists largely of air and therefore offers efficient insulation for transporting temperature sensitive goods or keeping food warm or cold. EPP enhances these advantages with greater robustness, elasticity and reusability.

Advantages:

  • Low weight with very good energy absorption
  • Protection against mechanical damage
  • Excellent insulation properties (stable temperatures over long periods)
  • Durable, temperature and weather resistant
  • Grades with electrical dissipative and conductive properties are available
  • Food approved EPP grades available

Applications:

  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Food industry
  • Transport of fresh goods

EPP transport boxes are extremely lightweight yet robust. They reliably protect the contents from shock and temperature fluctuations and can be reused multiple times. At the end of their life, EPP boxes can be recycled, contributing to more sustainable transport and storage solutions.

Advantages:

  • Low weight with very good energy absorption
  • Reusable with high resilience
  • Tailored to specific applications
  • Excellent insulation properties (stable temperatures over long periods)
  • Durable, temperature and weather resistant

Applications:

  • Cargo bikes
  • Storage
  • Transport of food and meals
  • Transport of medicines and related goods

EPS packaging is used to reliably protect sensitive products during transport and storage. The material distributes forces evenly, absorbs shocks and reduces damage to goods. At the same time, EPS is lightweight, cost efficient and recyclable, making it suitable for a broad range of applications: from food protection and household appliances to intermediate industrial products.

Advantages:

  • Protection against mechanical damage
  • Excellent impact energy absorption
  • Very low density (typically 15–40 g/L)
  • Tailored to individual applications
  • Cost efficient

Applications:

  • Transport of intermediate products
  • Transport of food and meals
  • Transport of household appliances

Hybrid foam packaging will combine light-weight and robustness in packaging solutions and can protect transported goods even under extreme duress or in environmentally-sensitive areas, as in the heavy or marine industries.

Advantages:

  • Protection against mechanical damage, highly robust
  • Excellent impact energy absorption, included repeated loading
  • Very low density (typically 15–40 g/L)
  • Tailored to individual applications
  • Cost efficient

Applications:

  • Transport of intermediate products
  • Transport of household appliances
  • Suitable for high-value protective packaging
